The newly set-up plant shall address the problem of burning of paddy stubble after the harvest, which is one of the causes for pollution during winter months.

The plant in Punjab will process ~90,000 tons of agricultural residues per year; Moreover, the plant capacity can be enhanced to process 540,000 tons per year.

Processing of 90,000 tons of paddy straw :

• will produce ~75,000 tonnes of energy rich, highly sanitized biomass pellets;
• pellets produced shall be totally sanitized and moisture content less than 10%.
• First of its type in India; will help in meeting Government of India’s guidelines of blending biomass pellets with coal for thermal power production.
• Importantly, ~ 45,000 acres of land will be free from burning of biomass (i.e., paddy straw)
